Avalanche – What do to!

A third of all avalanche deaths are caused by a lack of proper equipment and knowledge. The only way to a fast avalanche rescue is practice! A lot of it! Reframe your mindset to practise every step tirelessly. This is a practical clinic with an up-to-date step-by-step guide.

CONTENT
This clinic will be focus on three big themes for when a worst-case scenario strikes. First and foremost, the equipment. Secondly, how to make competent decisions. And thirdly, recovering your partner.

GOAL
# How to search efficiently including proper probe technique
# Efficient shovelling procedure
# Gently digging out your partner and keeping their core temperature up

LEVEL
Beginners and advanced. Good ski technique on black slopes is required.

EQUIPMENT
# Freeride- or Ski touring equipment
# Emergency equipment (avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel)
A detailed equipment list will be sent after booking.

The meeting point will be the Arc’teryx Academy base camp at 9am. There will be a welcome address by your mountain guide, followed by a safety briefing. This is a hands-on workshop, where you are going to practice different scenarios. Depending on weather conditions, our lunch break will be on tour or in a restaurant. At 3pm we will return to base camp.
