From Piste to Powder

St. Anton am Arlberg is a legendary winter sports destination. It shaped the early days of alpine skiing, and today has a reputation for fantastic powder skiing, which draws mountain athletes from all around the world. In this clinic, we will guide you from piste to powder.

CONTENT
In this clinic you are going to learn how to adapt alpine skiing to making your first powder turns. The content covers ski technique, and nifty tips and tricks, as well as a brief insight into risk management.

GOAL
# Differentiation between piste-, ski routes and off piste runs
# Ski technique in deep snow, on tracked powderand in crisp conditions
# Risk management
# Standard procedure in the backcountry

LEVEL
Beginners, who can ski a black slope in a safe and controlled manner.

EQUIPMENT
# Freeride or ski touring equipment
# Emergency equipment (avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel)

The meeting point will be the Arc’teryx Academy base camp at 9am. You’ll be welcomed by your mountain guide, followed by a safety briefing and an overview of the St. Anton ski area. In this clinic you are going to learn efficient backcountry ski technique on- and off-piste. Depending on weather conditions, our lunch break will be on tour or in a restaurant. At 3pm we will return to base camp.

Level – Beginners, who can ski a black slope in a safe and controlled manner.

Group size is limited to 5 participants.
