How to Pow - Telemark

There are only a few ski destinations that are known and loved by telemark skiers from all over the world. One of them is St. Anton am Arlberg. To learn how to master the elegant turn and have fun with the “loose heel” in deep snow, we offer this special telemark clinic for the first turns off the groomed slopes in company with our local telemark pros.

THE CLINIC:
The telemark clinic is primarily about transferring and adapting the turning technique on-piste to the ungroomed off-piste terrain. Technical skiing tips and a short insight into risk management when telemarking in the backcountry will be covered.

 

EDUCATIONAL GOALS:

# Overview of the gear and differentiation between on-piste & off-piste

# Efficient turning technique

# Correct sequence of movements

# Standard techniques in the backcountry

# Basics of avalanche rescue

 

LEVEL: Beginners, participation only with telemark skis

Descent: good condition, safe and controlled telemarking on red slopes.

 

 GEAR / EQUIPMENT:

# Complete telemark equipment (telemark ski, telemark shoes, poles), emergency equipment (avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel)

The meeting point is at 9 am at the Freeride Village. Welcome from your guide. Equipment and safety check. You will learn the correct and efficient telemark technique from professionals in various exercise series. Lunch break on the mountain/optionally in a restaurant. Insights into emergency management and tips for avalanche equipment. Return to the Freeride Village at around 3 pm.
