First Aid - searched, found and dug out. What to do now?

A successful rescue of your partner is also dependent on first aid. This clinic is designed to further your avalanche education by teaching you how to take care of your partner after an avalanche incident.

CONTENT
This workshop is going to be a step-by-step guide to first aid after an avalanche incident. We are giving you a toolbox to enable fast decision making, from CPR to dealing with potential hypothermia and a lot more.

GOAL
# How to check vitals
# Cardio- Pulmonary – Resuscitation
# How to regulate core temperature to avoid hyperthermia

LEVEL
Beginners and advanced. Good ski technique on black slopes is required.

EQUIPMENT
# Freeride – or Ski touring equipment
# Emergency equipment (avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel)
A detailed equipment list will be sent after booking.

The meeting point will be the Arc’teryx Academy base camp at 9am. There will be a welcome address by your mountain guide, followed by a safety briefing. This is a hands-on workshop – you are going to practice different First Aid scenarios. Depending on weather conditions, our lunch break will be on tour or in a restaurant. At 3pm we will return to base camp.
